| The Day the sky fell | ||||||||||||||
| Our first trip to Six Flags was in 1978 we rode the Sky Way several times. I won a stuffed panther but mom gave it to someone shortly afterward. The trip might have faided from memory but two days later it happened. The news came on and reported that an accident occured at Six Flags on the Sky Way people were dead. For years I couldn't remember what happened until I got the chance to look up old Post Dispatch articles. A car struck a damaged tower and fell. killing three. |

| A bushing seized up and caused a bolt to break. The rocker arm fell and the cable derailed. An E-stop was triggered but the ride couldn't stop in. time. The cable pulled the roller bank until iit was paralllel to the tower then the car ran into it and the safetly release was tripped by the arm causing the car to fall. | ||||||||||||||
